Report: Striker has ‘idea to leave’ club, Man City ‘lead bid’ to sign 21 y/o, selling club unhappy

It’s no secret Erling Haaland is a transfer target for Manchester City, but their pursuit of the 21-year-old has a lot of roadblocks.

Real Madrid, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are interested in Haaland and Lluís Miguelsanz of Sport says Borussia Dortmund are trying to remove his release clause, so the Norwegian international might end up costing more money than expected.

Haaland joined Dortmund on a four-and-a-half-year deal from RB Salzburg and has gone on to make 79 appearances in all competitions, scoring 80 goals with 21 assists.

The 21-year-old has been outstanding in Germany and lays claim to being one of the best strikers in Europe already, so it’s easy to see why City want him as Sergio Aguero’s replacement. Haaland’s ‘idea is to leave’ Dortmund too, but the Bundesliga outfit hope he’ll sign a new deal.

If he puts pen to paper on a contract extension, Haaland’s €75m (£62.7m) release clause could be removed. If not, Dortmund will likely lose out on a talented player for much less money than they should be. City are said to be ‘leading the bid’ to sign Haaland, but competition will be fierce.
