On tour with Aston Villa in Hong Kong, former City goalkeeper and Ireland’s Number One Seamus Given has underlined his belief that The Blues are going places…

If only you could play with two ‘keepers and bigger nets. A sentiment that many Blues identified with in the knowledge that the ever popular Irishman couldn’t dislodge England’s Joe Hart last season or the next unless the young star was injured.

Now free of the serious shoulder injury that essentially all but ended his City career, the Villans new signing has revealed to the Irish media that it was a wrench to leave the Etihad Stadium:

‘Leaving Manchester City, who are going to be a big club in world football, was a big decision…but I had to be playing regularly.’

And there is no doubt in Shay’s mind that Roberto Mancini will continue to work his shrewd magic as The Citizens seek to build upon long craved for success:

‘…City will do big things. They have fantastic owners, who are bringing in some of the best players in the world, so I think it is inevitable they will do big things like winning the Premier League and the European Cup, if not next year then in the years to come…it is just a matter of time.’

Top man and already sorely missed around Carrington. All at VMC wish Shay the very best of luck at Villa Park.
