In the meantime, talks continue over the potentially explosive return of Emmanuel Adebayor to Norf Laarndaarn which could see a fair few Arsenal supporters going mental again. Spurs are allegedly happy to take the hatstand 27 year old City striker but are not at all happy with his wages. That’s the stumbling block stopping the deal going through apparantly.
Of course, these cagey transfer stalemates that we are all getting more and more used to pre new finanical regulations are always open to rumour, subterfuge and intrigue.
The latest of which is that Harry has suggested that Spurs would like to swap England internationals Aaron Lennon and Adam Johnson with City. What’s all that about then?
Johnson for his part told the dreadful Sun this week:
‘I know the manager has said he wants another winger. But with the players we’ve got here, most of us know we won’t play every single game. That’s just part of being at a massive club like this. Two players for every position is good…When you get linked with other teams you start to wonder if you are in their plans. But it’s brilliant Mancini said I am…he’s definitely brought me on as a player.’
As the clock ticks down to September, we can expect some transfer fireworks brinksmanship goes to the wire.
