Ferran Torres came off the bench to play for 10 minutes in Barcelona’s 1-0 win over Mallorca on Saturday, replacing Ousmane Dembele when the game was all but won.

The 22-year-old failed to make a significant impact in the little time afforded to him, having just nine touches and making only five passes at the Son Moix, so Torres can’t be too pleased with how the season is going.

Torres has made eight appearances in all competitions this season, scoring one goal with one assist, but he hasn’t contributed a goal in any of his six La Liga outings.

The Spanish international has amassed only 184 minutes of playing time in the league too, as Xavi has preferred Dembele, Ansu Fati, Raphinha and Memphis Depay (when fit), so Torres’ long-term future at the Camp Nou is unknown.

The 22-year-old has scored eight goals with seven assists from 34 games since joining Barcelona in January 2022, but he’s now out of form and out of favour. Despite his domestic problems, Torres is playing regularly for Spain, so his situation at Barcelona hasn’t killed his chances of making the World Cup squad next month.
