Summer of discontent

Well, well, well. You couldn`t make it up could you!

Whilst the embers of another disasterours season still burn brightly, the hopes, fears & aspirations of the forthcoming season stare us bleakly in the face.

Only in the City, could a corupt business man put a tender in for the chosen club, build the hopes of the thousands of beleaguered legions with the promise of a golden pond & (As Rodney Rodney once predicted), turn a silk purse into a sowes ear before we even had the chance to do so in real time & money!!.

Surely after forty odd days of ” negotiating”, we should have smelt a rat, but I suppose when you have been through the mill as many times as we have, you will grab hold of anything in the hope that we could maybe close the gap on such illustrious clubs as Bolton & Portsmouth.

So where do we go from here then? I suppose, back to the land of the living.

WE ARE A BIG CLUB, with huge support & proud tradition & let`s face it, will never be able to lace the boots of Man Yewnited. Look at the positives, we have retained the services of Richards, Dunne, Onouha, Isakksson, etc, the Academy is flourishing with yet more prospects worth an envious glance from other more illustrious clubs. The troubled one & the greedy one have left for “much bigger clubs” Newcastle & Portsmouth?.. COME ON!! Has anything happened this close season that we did not expect

1) Pearce had to go
2) Distin wanted to go
3) Barton??? work that one out for yourself!!

Sven Goran Eriksson, a man with an unprecedented record at club level & the most successful English manager in terms of percentage ratios is begging for the job & with the additional level of money from Television flooding through the doors, plus the money from the lovely Mr Barton, surely the option of trusting such pedigree to wisely nurture the talent we have & shrewdly invest in the transfer market, is much sounder that the aforementioned & whether you like it or not, the current owner has a vested and valid interest in the future of our football club.

For once, we need to move quickly & if we do, we could just retain the identity & integrity of the best football club in the land.
