Manchester City enjoyed a 1-0 win over Arsenal on Sunday afternoon and John Stones was one of many players lauded for his performance. The 26-year-old started alongside Ruben Dias and limited the Gunners to only one shot on target.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang played a full 90 minutes while Alexandre Lacazette came off the bench in the second half but neither player even managed a single shot at the Emirates Stadium (WhoScored).
That John Stones and Ruben Dias partnership is actually a brick wall

I thought John Stones was immense today. Confident going forward, solid in defence. The Barnsley Beckenbauer 👌🏼

Ruben Dias has been some signing by City he’s got John Stones looking assured as well alongside him. Amazing how one dominant defender can improve a whole defence. VanDijk had the same effect at Liverpool.

It’s fantastic to see John Stones and Michael Keane in good form this season – certainly making good cases for themselves with the Euros coming up!

Fair play to John Stones. Done brilliant to work his way back in at City and playing so well. Wasn't bad in the masked singer either ⚒

Against Arsenal, Stones played for 90 minutes, had 73 touches, won one aerial duel, completed 95.5% of his 66 passes, made four clearances, blocked one shot and made one interception (WhoScored).
The England international has made 22 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring three goals. Stones hasn’t been on the losing side in his 15 Premier League outings and has conceded only three goals, keeping 12 clean sheets (Transfermarkt).
Sunday’s victory at the Emirates kept City 10 points clear at the summit, boasting 13 consecutive wins. They’ve lost only twice in 25 games and have conceded 15 goals. Stones is certainly to thank for that, as the Sky Blues look rock solid when he’s players.
