In the second edition of VMC`s Stat Attack we’ll be taking a look at the two weeks that just transpired in the Premier League for all teams involved.

I realized that providing weekly updates wouldn’t really give a good picture as to the ever-changing landscape of the world’s best league. Therefore, every fortnight I will attempt to bring you the numbers I’ve collected in order to bring this crazy season into focus.

Only two teams have yet to play three games, Reading and Sunderland, as Reading was required to play a game a week and a half before in order to allow Chelsea to be dismantled in the UEFA Super Cup, and was then forced to sit out a trip to Sunderland due to a water-logged pitch.

The highlights from the following two weeks:

Week 2
Most Goals For: 3 – Everton, United, and Swansea
Most Goals Against: 3 – Villa, Fulham, West Ham
Most Shots Taken: 20 – United
Most Shots On Target: 11 – Everton, United, and Fulham
Fewest Shots: 6 – QPR (since Sunderland and Reading did not play)
Fewest Shots on Target: 3 – Aston Villa
Most Corners: 11 – Arsenal
Fewest Corners: 0 – Stoke
Most Saves: 10 – Wigan
Most Yellow Cards: 4 – West Ham
Random Stat of the Week: Of all the teams to score this week, the lowest shooting percentage belongs to Tottenham, with a paltry 5.56%
Most Surprising: Norwich provided 20 crosses (4 more than the next closest) this week and ended up with a single goal. Perhaps they may need to change their plans.

Week 3
Most Goals For: 4 – Chelsea
Most Goals Against: 4 – Reading
Most Shots Taken: 22 – Chelsea
Most Shots On Target: 13 – Fulham
Fewest Shots: 4 – Sunderland
Fewest Shots on Target: 3 – Sunderland
Most Corners: 11 – Liverpool
Fewest Corners: 0 – Sunderland
Most Saves: 11 – West Ham
Most Yellow Cards: 4 – Villa and Everton
Random Stat of the Week: Overall there were 268 total shots taken, 155 of which were on target. This was the most by far this season.
Most Surprising: Fulham took 14 total shots, 13 of which ended up on target. They ended the game losing 3-0.

Overall:
Most Goals: 10 – Swansea
Most Goals Against: 9 – QPR
