Defender and Man of the Match Nicolas Otamendi has said that Manchester City fully deserved the three points from the Norwich City encounter at the weekend.

With an uncharacteristic Joe Hart blunder meaning we had to take the late two one victory courtesy of a last minute Yaya Toure penalty, our opening goal scorer on the day told the Official Site that for him we had deserved the win given our performance on the day.

‘I`m really, really happy that we won this game and that we played well and obviously I`m really pleased I scored my first goal for City. I heard about the ‘fight to the end` spirit we have here before I arrived, but in all honesty, it`s just a pleasure for me to be playing for this club. We are a group of players who work really hard and it`s true, we never give up and today we got our reward for that belief. This was a tough game but I think we were good value for the three points and it would have been tough to have come away with only a draw so we are pleased.’

Skipper Vincent Kompany was also briefly interviewed after the game, and he was asked about the goalkeeper’s slip but for him it’s something that just happens occasionally and it’s certainly nothing to be concerned about.

‘You get those days. Joe hasn’t set a foot wrong for us in a long, long time. It’s good for him that it will be forgotten because the result was good, we won. In the end it was not a bad day to make a mistake. Something happened for him that every goalkeeper wants – when you make a mistake you want it cancelling out by a good result. You won’t find a better goalkeeper in England than Joe Hart – he has been too perfect, and we found out today he is human. He has been City’s outstanding performer in the Champions League, but also in the Premier League last season a lot of the clean sheets were down to him.’

Manager Manuel Pellergrini was also quoted by the Manchester Evening News, and he had praise for Wilfried Bony.

‘I think we must support him. Because he is an important player. He must play with Kun, without Kun. He makes a lot of space, he holds the ball up well to create space. And unfortunately at this moment, as happens with a lot of strikers, he`s not scoring the number of goals that he can. But I am sure that in the future, he will return to his normal performance.’

With thoughts turning quickly to the Champions League encounter with Sevilla, Gael Clichy and Fabian Delph have now returned to training, but David Silva and Samir Nasri remain missing.

Sergio Aguero and Pablo Zabaleta have already been ruled out once more.
