World Cup star wants Man City move despite interest from PSG and Real Madrid

|

Manchester City have been linked with a move for Josko Gvardiol, but Vital Man City has repeatedly questioned why Pep Guardiola needs the centre-back with five at his disposal already (John Stones, Aymeric Laporte, Ruben Dias, Nathan Ake, Manuel Akanji).

Pep has two left-footed options too, so Gvardiol being signed would surely mean an existing player would have to leave. Ake came close to a departure over the summer but ended up staying and has since featured regularly, so he isn’t going anywhere. Laporte is a key player when fit too.

That being said, Media Foot report that Gvardiol is keen to join City despite having interest from Chelsea, Manchester City, FC Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich. The 20-year-old was a target for City before the World Cup, but his stock has risen considerably after shining for Croatia in Qatar.

Gvardiol currently plays for RB Leipzig and has made 65 appearances in all competitions, scoring three goals with four assists. His deal expires in 2027, so Leipzig aren’t obligated to cash in early. A move may depend on the Croatian international.
