Pep Guardiola loves to have skilful and intelligent players in his team. But, would today’s City boss have Georgi in his squad, never mind his starting XI?

I think we all know the answer…too bloody right!

Just imagine Kinky alongside the likes of Ilkay Gundogan, Kevin De Bruyne, Leroy Sane, Bernardo Silva and David Silva.

Having written and then thought about the above paragraph…my lips have moistened- I think I need to go and have a lie down in a darkened room. I mean, just image the thought (Kinky in the team and not me having a lie down!).

Okay, enough of this twiddle twaddle, let’s get down to business.

No history lesson here

Enough has been written over the years about Kinkladze to sink a ship. All I will say however is that he played for City for three years, between 1995 and 1998 and he is my all-time favourite City player. Apart from Colin Bell.

I did say I wouldn’t make this article into a history lesson. But, this short three minute video has made me change my mind.

Another thing?

Steven McInerney aka Esteemed Kompany from the defunct Blue Moon Rising TV channel added a few comments and clips via his Twitter feed earlier today. And to be honest his words sum up brilliantly how he feels about Georgi Kinkladze.

‘If I could have one football wish granted, it would be that Pep Guardiola had a 22 year Georgi Kinkladze to hone. He was absolutely f****** phenomenal.’

‘Seriously gifted. Still never seen anyone move with a ball like him at City. He was in a generation that played 4-4-2 who had no idea how to use a player like him.’

‘The most wasted talent I’ve ever seen in football. If only someone had taught him how to actually play football in a team. He’d be remembered as one of the very best. Love you, Kinky.’

Moving words and clips wouldn’t you say?

Georgi Kinkladze. If only you were around and playing today (sighs).
