Thursday was a busy day for City! Two departures, Karim Rekik on loan again and Javi Garcia permanently, were confirmed but more great news was revealed that Sergio Aguero had signed a new deal.

Aguero has committed his future to City for the next five-years, taking him up until 2019.

The Argentine international became the latest, in a string, of key figures at the club to commit his long-term future to us with his new deal announced on Thursday.

Yet again, as is the case every transfer window, Aguero has been linked with an exit but he doesn’t pay any attention to that and says that he hasn’t ever had any intention of moving on and will be here until this new contract expires, at least.

He told the official website: ‘The reality seems to be that ever since I came here, during every close season, there have always been rumours suggesting that I might be returning to Spain.

‘There has always been this speculation but I certainly never pay much attention to it.

‘People hear this stuff flying around and they take it seriously but I can tell the fans and everyone at City to relax, I`m going to be here until I see out my contract.’

He went on to pay tribute to a special club with special fans, with him already targeting more silverware with the club as two titles and an FA cup winners medal is nowhere near enough for him.

Aguero says that he also aims to ‘keep making history through my best years’.

With Manuel Pellegrini rating Aguero as a close third to Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo as the best attacking player in world football the City boss was, and will be still, delighted with the 26-year-olds commitment to the club.

Injuries hampered his season somewhat last time round but we all know what Aguero can do and his new deal is yet more great news for City at a time that keeps bringing this awesome news as he follows Samir Nasri, Aleksandar Kolarov, Vincent Kompany and David Silva in extending a stay.

Who will ever forget that most memorable Aguerrrrrooooo moment when he scored that incredible injury-time winner against Queens Park Rangers to secure us our first title in 44-years…
