Javi Garcia’s time with City has come to an end with a move to Zenit St Petersburg confirmed on Thursday night.

The Spanish international, on of those highly expected to leave the Etihad this summer with a lack of regular first-team action cited, has signed for Andre Villas-Boas’ Russian outfit for a fee that wasn’t revealed by City but is reportedly to be around the £13m mark.

Garcia had an up and down town with the club, he gained an international recall last year but it is also thought he missed the world cup due to a lack of regular football. He played an important part whilst at the club though and to go away with some winners, including a title winners medal, and runners-up medals, from his two-years at the club isn’t bad at all is it.

It was in the best interests of all concerned that Garcia left really wasn’t it, but much as the club did when confirming his exit, I’m sure we’ll all wish the 27-year-old all the best for the future.
