Report: Bad news for Man City as Chelsea have ‘concrete interest’ in £100m target

|

Manchester City hope to sign both Jack Grealish and Harry Kane this summer, but they have been given bad news over their pursuit of the former. Football Insider say Chelsea have entered the race for Grealish’s signature and have ‘concrete interest’ in the 25-year-old.

Villa have no desire to sell Grealish this transfer window, but the Midlands outfit want around £100m if he was to be offloaded. Football Insider say the England international might have a buyout clause attached to the five-year deal he signed in 2020 but didn’t disclose what it could be.

Grealish has made 213 appearances in all competitions, scoring 32 goals with 43 assists. The 25-year-old is coming off the back of his most prolific Premier League season, scoring seven goals and making 12 assists in 27 games across the board, so it’s no surprise clubs are paying an interest.

Chelsea aren’t short of attacking options with Christian Pulisic, Timo Werner, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Hakim Ziyech at their disposal, but Grealish is a different animal – he created 81 chances, had 65 successful dribbles and was fouled 110 times in 26 league games last season.

But where he’ll end up remains to be seen.
