Club in ‘daily contact’ over Man City’s £18m-rated 6ft man, manager wants January transfer

According to Miguel Rico of Mundo Deportivo (h/t Sport Witness), Barcelona are in ‘daily contact’ with Manchester City over Eric Garcia.

The 19-year-old is out of contract in 2021 and has turned down the chance to extend his deal, so he looks destined to leave when the winter transfer window opens. Sport (h/t Sport Witness) say Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman will order his signing in January.

Garcia joined Man City from the Catalans in 2017 and has gone on to make 27 appearances in all competitions. The 6ft Spanish international, who was born in Barcelona, isn’t holding down a starting place under Pep Guardiola (20/58 appearances in 2019/20 and 4/9 appearances in 2020/21) and has no desire to stay here past 2021.

It’s expected that Garcia will return to his former club, but Mundo Deportivo don’t know whether that will be in January or the following summer. City will want to make some money from his sale but don’t want to leave themselves short at the back.

That being said, we’d have Aymeric Laporte, Ruben Dias, Nathan Ake and John Stones at centre-back, so we should be able to cope without the £18m-rated Spaniard.

In other news, Manchester City are eyeing a £40.5m-rated defender who’s been dribbled past less than Aymeric Laporte
