City obviously signed Wilfried Bony back in January but his first involvement since that £28m signing from Swansea only came today when he reported for his first day of training more than a month since he signed for us!
His involvement at the African Cup of Nations meant we knew we were signing him knowing he might not be available for a month or so, but it was a risk worth taking. At least we’ll hope it ends up being a risk worth taking…. Not that it was ‘a risk’ as such anyway mind.
Should we not win the title this season, I think it’s a bit much to expect that Bony will be the man that does this for us – he can help us do this but not win it alone, I have little doubt that during the course of his City career though he’ll have a great impact at the Etihad and help us to plenty more silverware in the years ahead.
A belated arrival should see him make his debut against Newcastle at the weekend then a Champions League bow against Barcelona next week – I know Wilf a couple of nice easy games to get you up and running….
