Stevan Jovetic ‘broke his silence’, as it was put but the Mirror at the weekend in an ‘exclusive’ interview, by talking about his Champions League omission….
While City take on Barcelona, and all being well others to follow, Jovetic will be left kicking his heels. Manuel Pellegrini’s decision to leave him out of the Champions League squad was one he said saw him ‘kill him’ in doing so – he also said it wasn’t ‘a good decision’ or ‘the right decision’ either.
A place in the squad was one he felt he deserved to retain, despite Wilfried Bony’s arrival from Swansea.
‘I deserve to play in the Champions League. I know that. The manager has killed me with this decision. I feel I deserve my place and other people have told me the same.
‘People have told me I am a great player, but it is clear that the manager doesn’t think the same way. I am very disappointed, even now. I don’t think it was a good decision – or the right decision.
‘I know that I deserve to be on the list. I told the manager this, but he didn’t want to listen to me. I came here to play in the Champions League.’
Despite his disappointment he says that he hasn’t made a decision on his future but feels that perhaps Pellegrini has made this for him with his decision to cut him from the squad ‘a message about what he wants to do’ anyway, and what direction his City future is heading….
Jovetic, well aware of interest in Italy from Juventus and Inter Milan, has promised that as disappointed as he is and as hard as it is to focus he’s a professional and will remain so for the remainder of the season giving him all to help in our title defence as and when chances come his way.
It doesn’t seem possible that Jovetic will have a future with the club beyond the end of the season though does it?
