‘Brightest spark’ – Journalists say ‘nice’ Man City player ‘caused trouble’ for West Ham

|

Manchester City rescued a point at West Ham United, going 2-0 down before finishing 2-2, and Gabriel Jesus can hold his head high after impressing on Sunday afternoon.

The 25-year-old didn’t get on the scoresheet, but he won one penalty which Riyad Mahrez failed to convert and didn’t give the Hammers backline a minute of rest with constant running at the opposition.

No Man City player had more successful dribbles and no player was fouled more often, so Jesus was deserving of the plaudits received. Stuart Brennan of the Manchester Evening News gave the Brazilian international a player rating of 8/10 and said he ‘caused trouble’ for West Ham all afternoon.

Jude Summerfield of 90min gave Jesus a player rating of 7/10, hailing his link-up play in attack and praising his willingness to take on players. Edward Burnett of City Xtra gave a player rating of 8/10 and said he was one of City’s ‘brightest sparks’.

Against West Ham, Jesus played for 90 minutes, had 50 touches, won one aerial duel, completed 87.1% of his 31 passes, created one chance, had four shots with 25% hitting the target, made five successful dribbles and was fouled three times.
