‘Crucial’ – Journalists say Man City midfielder ‘played well’ v West Ham

|

Manchester City drew 2-2 with West Ham United on Sunday afternoon and Rodri was one of a few players who put in a good performance. It wasn’t a vintage showing from City as they were two goals down before halftime, but they rescued a point and Rodri played a part in their comeback.

The 25-year-old started alongside Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva in midfield, boasting more touches, more aerial duels won, more passes, more tackles and more interceptions than his teammates. He assisted Jack Grealish’s goal to begin the comeback too, so journalists unsurprisingly lauded his contribution.

Jude Summerfield of 90min gave Rodri a player rating of 7/10 and said he made ‘crucial’ tackles to keep City in the game when West Ham were trying to counter. Edward Burnett of City Xtra gave the Spanish international a player rating of 7/10 said he ‘played well’ at the London Stadium.

Stuart Brennan of the Manchester Evening News opted for a player rating of 7/10 and credited him for eventually exerting himself in the game despite lacking a killer pass.

Against West Ham, Rodri played for 90 minutes, had 120 touches, won seven aerial duels, completed 93% of his 100 passes, had four shots with 25% hitting the target, found a teammate with eight of his 12 long-range balls, made three tackles, had two interceptions, made one clearance and had one successful dribble.
