It was nice to see Malcolm Allison back at City last week, although he probably wondered why he’d bothered given the poor quality of the performance against Pompey.
Some of our younger readers may not realise just what a giant of the game Allison was; a larger than life character if ever there was one.
Allison is generally recognised to have been one of the best coaches the game has ever seen and was arguably years ahead of his time and with Joe Mercer provided a management double-act the like of which City will probably never see again.
It’s well documented that Allison hasn’t enjoyed the best of health for quite a while so I hope that City, behind the scenes are doing all they can to provide support for one of our legends.
