Graeme Souness has responded to Jack Grealish on talkSPORT, insisting he has no specific agenda against the Manchester City playmaker and wants to see him succeed, though he took aim at footballers who “don’t take criticism well”.
Souness was called out by the 27-year-old after being critical about his decision-making in possession. He suggested Grealish was being fouled so often in games because he holds the ball for too long and misses key passes, but Vital Man City revealed Grealish makes a lot chances too.

After the England international named Souness in the media and said he doesn’t know why the ex-footballer has so much to say about him, Souness responded. He told talkSPORT: “I’m sure if I met Jack, I’d like him. But I think the modern player doesn’t take criticism very well.
“He’s the most expensive transfer between two English clubs. I was that when I went from Middlesbrough to Liverpool, but that was never an issue for me. No one ever spoke about it. If they had, it would be because I wasn’t doing the business or living up to expectations.”
Souness is ignoring how many media outlets speak about Grealish’s form on a weekly basis, including Vital Man City, so there are more critics out there than ever before. And the football pundit speaks on a platform that broadcasts to millions that use social media, so it’s hard for Grealish to escape the criticism.
The 27-year-old admitted himself that he struggled during the second half of last season, so he’s not in denial about how his time at City is going. But Grealish is probably frustrated at the constant bashing from ex-players who should know what it’s like to be out of form or in a new environment.
