Manchester City thrashed Newcastle United 4-0 on Sunday afternoon and Joao Cancelo was one of many players who impressed at St James’ Park. The 27-year-old scored a brilliant goal and made a great assist to help put Newcastle to the sword.

Cancelo’s having a great season as a makeshift left-back and is staking a claim to be one of the best fullbacks in Europe. No player had more shots on target or won more freekicks on the day, so it wasn’t a surprise that he was lauded by fans on social media.

The Portuguese international has made 24 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring three goals with seven assists. He’s a natural right-back who is flourishing on the left and looks a smart piece of business from 2019. The sky is the limit for Cancelo.
