‘Fantastic’ – Media laud ‘brilliant’ Man City player who ‘shone’ v Norwich

Manchester City enjoyed a 4-0 win over Norwich City on Saturday evening and Raheem Sterling stole the headlines for his outstanding performance at Carrow Road. The 27-year-old scored the perfect hattrick and was a constant thorn in the Norwich side, resulting in widespread praise from supporters and people in the media.

Sterling’s first goal came in the 31st minute from a curled effort into the far corner. His second goal was in the 70th minute from a header at close range. And his third goal came in the 90th minute, rebounding a missed penalty. The England international was at his best at Norwich and can be happy with his efforts.

Stuart Brennan of the Manchester Evening News gave Sterling a player rating of 9/10 and tweeted that the 27-year-old ‘shone’ at Carrow Road. Gary Lineker of Match of the Day said the Englishman delivered ‘Sterling work’ at Carrow Road. Football journalist Richard Jolly noted that only Sterling and Mohamed Salah had bagged double figures in the Premier League in each of the last five seasons. Sky Sports noted that only Sergio Aguero has more hattricks for City (12) than Sterling (5). City Xtra also hailed the forward with a social media post.

Against Norwich, Sterling played for 90 minutes, had 63 touches, won one aerial duel, completd 76.3% of his 38 passes, created one chance, had five shots on target, whipped in three crosses, made two interceptions, had three successful dribbles, gave away two fouls and won three freekicks.
