‘Terrible’ – Some fans say ‘poor’ Man City man was ‘awful’ in Southampton draw

|

Manchester City’s 12-game winning run in the Premier League came to an end on Saturday with a 1-1 draw with Southampton and Raheem Sterling was one of many players who underperformed.

The 27-year-old missed a sitter when the goal was gaping, was dispossessed of the ball too often, failed to find a teammate with any of his crosses and ended up being hooked in the second half by Pep Guardiola.

Sterling didn’t make an opportunity for his teammates and was given a player rating of 3/10 by the Manchester Evening News, so fans on social media weren’t happy with his contribution at St Mary’s.

Against Southampton, Sterling played for 59 minutes, had 43 touches, completed 88.9% of his 27 passes, had two shots with 50% hitting the target, failed to create a chance, whipped in three crosses without finding a teammate, had one successful dribble, was fouled three times and was dispossessed on three occasions too.

The England international has made 27 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring nine goals with three assists. Sterling has been a regular of late and was getting among the goals, so his performance against Southampton will be forgotten quickly.
