Journalist says Man City are close to agreeing 3rd loan move in 2 years for 24 y/o

Manchester City striker Nahuel Bustos returned early from his loan spell at Sao Paulo after struggling for form and playing time, but journalist Cesar Luis Merlo (h/t Sport Witness) says he’s already closing in on another temporary move away.

Bustos is set to join CA Talleres – the Argentina Liga Profesional club that City signed him from two years ago. The Sky Blues paid around £5.6m for Bustos in 2020, but he’s yet to make an appearance and hasn’t been given a sniff by Pep Guardiola.

City immediately loaned the 24-year-old out to Girona (2020 – 2022) upon his arrival, but he didn’t exactly set the place alight with 15 goals and five assists from 82 games. Bustos’ loan move to Sao Paulo was even worse with one goal and zero assists in nine appearances, so his last two years have left a lot to be desired.

Pep Guardiola is content with Erling Haaland and Gabriel Jesus in attack, so it doesn’t appear there’s a chance Bustos will ever make an appearance for Manchester City despite having three years remaining on his deal. The Argentine will no doubt want to shine while on loan to put himself in the shop window for suitors.
