Man City named as potential suitor for Napoli star on deadline day

|

Since bringing in Aymeric Laporte in January 2018, Manchester City have signed only five players in the window transfer window, but Jack Gaughan and Tom Collomosse of Mail Online are adamant that City will buck that trend on deadline day.

The Sky Blues have been linked with AC Milan forward Rafael Leao and are believed to be closely monitoring his progress in Italy, but there’s another Serie A star they reportedly want – Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. The 21-year-old plays for Napoli and is having a fantastic season at Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.

Kvaratskhelia joined Gli Azzurri on a five-year deal from Dinamo Batumi last summer and has gone on to make 21 appearances in all competitions, scoring nine goals with 13 assists. Napoli are currently 13 points clear atop of Serie A and Kvaratskhelia has contributed 17 of their 48 goals (35.4%).

It’s easy to see why City would want the Georgian international, but they aren’t going to have any luck signing him in a matter of hours. Napoli will have no intention of letting their key player leave either, and City have enough options in the squad with Bernardo Silva, Jack Grealish, Phil Foden, Cole Palmer, Julian Alvarez and Riyad Mahrez, so take this rumour with a pinch of salt.
