Report: Man City youngster nears exit, club closing in on loan move

|

Pablo Moreno could be on his way out of Manchester City this summer as Record (h/t Sport Witness) say Famalicão have opened talks with the Premier League champions over a season-long loan deal.

Moreno, who has been on the books at Barcelona and Juventus, joined Man City in 2020 but has yet to make a senior appearance. The 19-year-old spent last season on loan at Girona and went on to make 29 appearances across the board, scoring two goals.

His short-term future may be in Portugal now, however, as Famalicão are closing in on a temporary deal. Moreno has little chance of getting playing time at City with Gabriel Jesus standing in his way, let alone if Harry Kane is signed from Tottenham Hotspur, so Pep Guardiola has greenlit a loan move.

Girona are a City Football Group club so they’re obliged to take a punt on City’s youngsters. The biggest test for the Spanish youth international will be how he fares in the Primeira Liga, however.

Famalicão finished 9th our of 18 teams last season and have two centre-forwards that could keep Moreno on the bench – Bruno Rodrigues, who had a hand in 14 goals from 29 games in Brazil last year, and Ivo Rodrigues, who scored six goals in 14 games for Famalicao last season.
