‘What comes will come’ – Man City player asked about potential move to Barcelona

Eric Garcia will be on his way out of Manchester City at the end of the season as his contract is up this summer and he’s turned down the chance to put pen to paper on an extension.

The 20-year-old is expected to return to Barcelona four years after he left his boyhood club, but there’s been no confirmation yet and Garcia remains tight-lipped when asked.

He recently told Mundo Deportivo: “I‘m focused on what concerns me, now with the national team there is a very important match against Kosovo coming up, and then what comes will come. I don’t know if it will be Barça.”

The Spanish international is highly rated and Pep Guardiola lamented his impending exit, but Garcia couldn’t get enough playing time to warrant staying. He found himself behind Ruben Dias, Aymeric Laporte and John Stones in the pecking order, so he couldn’t be blamed for wanting out of the Etihad.

Garcia has made 33 appearances for City since his 2017-arrival and only made 10 appearances from a possible 46 this season. City could have made £15.4m for Garcia had they accepted Barcelona’s bid in October, but they’re now going to lose him for free.
