Report: Man City closing in on £100m deal for 25 y/o with more chances than De Bruyne

Manchester City have had their eye on Jack Grealish for a while as Pep Guardiola is a huge admirer of the 25-year-old, so it was expected City would make a move in the summer transfer window. The Daily Mail say they’ve done exactly that and are closing in on a £100m deal.

Despite having Riyad Mahrez, Raheem Sterling, Phil Foden, Bernardo Silva and Ferran Torres at their disposal, the Premier League championships are still looking to add to their attack and might offload an existing player if Grealish comes to the Etihad Stadium.

The England international has made 213 appearances in all competitions for Aston Villa, scoring 32 goals with 43 assists, and is coming off the back of his best top-flight campaign. Grealish scored six goals and made 12 assists in 26 Premier League games last season.

He created 81 chances (more than Kevin De Bruyne’s 80 chances), had 65 successful dribbles and was fouled 110 times in the league, so there are fewer better playmakers available for City. Grealish won’t come cheap, however. Villa are believed to be holding out for £100m, forcing the Sky Blues to smash their transfer record.
