Report: Player ‘can leave’ Man City ‘if price is right’ after 26 y/o had ‘spat’ with manager

Raheem Sterling is coming off the back of a disappointing season at Manchester City and an exclusive from the Mirror says he ‘can leave’ this summer ‘if the price is right’. He was unhappy at being offered as a makeweight for City to sign Harry Kane only a year after being an important part of the squad.

The 26-year-old lost his starting place under Pep Guardiola and had a ‘spat’ with his manager as a result. The pair now have a fractured relationship which could lead to Sterling parting ways if a suitor matches his asking price.

Guardiola has Riyad Mahrez, Phil Foden, Bernardo Silva and Ferran Torres at his disposal if Sterling left, so he wouldn’t be short of options out wide. That being said, Aston Villa playmaker Jack Grealish is on City’s radar, so he might be a replacement.

Sterling has spent six seasons at the Etihad, joining from Liverpool in 2015. He’s gone on to make 292 appearances in all competitions, scoring 114 goals with 87 assists. The England international scored a very respectable 14 goals with 12 assists in 49 games last season, but he lost his starting place in Europe.

Sterling started only one of City’s last six Champions League games and amassed a total of 107 minutes of football in that time. Talks over a contract extension broke down recently too, so it’s up in the air where his future lies.
