Reacting to Man City’s 2-1 loss to Chelsea on Thursday evening, many Sky Blues were quick to batter one man for his performance as left-back Benjamin Mendy was at the centre of real criticism for his mishap with Ilkay Gundogan which led to the home side’s first goal.

Mendy, who lost the ball 11 times in total as per SofaScore, could only muster a 5.8 rating on the site due to his torrid afternoon at full-back up against Willian – but while his performance in general appeared sub par, one costly mistake was also a major talking point.

Was Mendy our worst performer of the night?

Seemingly dominating the ball and controlling the game’s tempo, City appeared to be in no real danger until Mendy and Gundogan’s miscommunication resulted in Pulisic getting a clear run on goal.

Tracking back to halt the attacker, instead of standing off, the Frenchman sloppily stuck a leg out – with Pulisic skating past him and burying a low shot into the bottom corner.

Here’s how supporters bashed the 25-year-old on social media.
