‘Not happy’ – Pundit says Man City’s ‘bit-part player’ could ‘look to leave’ this summer

|

Raheem Sterling continues to dominate most of the headlines as his contract situation isn’t likely to be resolved this summer. The 27-year-old made 47 appearances in all competitions this cam, scoring 17 goals with nine assists, but he’s not happy at being left out of big games.

It’s a similar situation to last season when Sterling was frustrated at being left out of important Champions League clashes. He even requested a move away from City the following summer too. A year later and the England international found himself dropped in the Champions League quarter-final and semi-final, so history is repeating itelf.

Gabriel Agbonlahor believes this could be the straw that broke the camel’s back. He’s adamant Sterling will be on his way out of Manchester City this summer, telling Football Insider: “Sterling will be a bit upset with last season.

“He was a bit-part player, to be honest. He was on the bench a lot, something he wouldn’t have been used to in his whole career. I’m sure he won’t like that and going forward he will definitely be looking to leave the club.”

Pep Guardiola has always said he won’t stand in a player’s way if they want to leave, so City could cash in on Sterling if they don’t believe he’ll sign a deal beyond 2023 – losing the 27-year-old on a free transfer would be unthinkable.

“He’s not a happy player at Man City and you can’t see it changing next season with (Erling) Haaland coming in, (Jack) Grealish and (Phil) Foden there too. You’ve got so much attacking strength you can see it being another frustrating season for him.

“He’s such a top player, he should be playing more. He might want to try another country out, another city with a different lifestyle. Whatever happens, I’m sure Man City fans will be happy with his contribution.”

Guardiola doesn’t want to lose Sterling and only gave three players more appearances than the Englishman, so he does have the trust of his manager.

Bit parr player. Not so. In three years at Liverpool Sterling averaged 33 games a season at City much the same. Perhaps Crippy you are saying he has always been a bit part player?
Sterling won’t sign for Liverpool. Why. The abuse, death threats, the psychological trauma of being in the mcfc team coach attacked at Anfield prior to a CL match. Oh and he wants to be a winner.

Chappy seems to be having a go a City and their players quite a lot with his comments. Just wondering why???
