Man City player with expiring contract tipped to join Arsenal or Newcastle

|

Gabriel Jesus’ contract will expire in 12 months and it doesn’t appear Manchester City stand a chance of tying him down to a new deal. The 25-year-old isn’t happy playing a supporting role and being played out of position, so Jack Wilshere believes he will jump at the chance to move on this summer.

Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are among the Premier League clubs that have been linked with Jesus, but Wilshere thinks Arsenal might pip Spurs and Newcastle to his signature. He said on talkSPORT via the Mirror: “I think they will be queuing up (for Jesus).

“I think Arsenal will have a big chance of signing him because of his relationship with his manager. I think Newcastle would go for him. But I would love to see him at Arsenal.” Jesus joined City from Palmeiras in 2017 and has gone on to make 236 appearances in all competitions, scoring 95 goals with 46 assists.

Jesus has scored 13 goals with 12 assists from 41 games this season, so he had a good return despite not always commanding a starting place and often featuring out wide. The Brazilian international has been a good servant for City, but he may have played his final game.

Arsenal have lost Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette, so they have a more fervent need to sign a striker. Wilshere’s prediction might be correct.
