Pep Guardiola says ‘there has been no offer’ for 28 y/o Man City man amid interest

Pep Guardiola spoke honestly about Bernardo Silva’s future at Manchester City, revealing “there’s has been no offer” for the 28-year-old despite two years of interest from Barcelona.

Silva has been honest about wanting a move to the Camp Nou this summer, but Guardiola said after City’s 3-3 draw with Barca that a bid is yet to be lodged since they were linked in 2021, so he isn’t going anywhere as things stand.

As per Sky Sports, Guardiola told reporters: “The first thing would be for the clubs to come to an agreement, but there has been no offer for him in these last two years.” It’s surprising to hear Barca haven’t fielded an offer for Silva and remains to be seen if they have the funds to do so after a busy summer.

The Catalans have spent nearly £140m on Raphinha (£52.2m), Jules Kounde (£45m) and Robert Lewandowski (£40.5m), selling club assets to ensure they can register their new players for the new season, so they don’t have the money required to sign Silva now.

Barcelona wanted to sell Frenkie De Jong and use that money for the City playmaker, but he isn’t looking to leave this summer. Guardiola has no problem talking about Silva wanting to leave, perhaps because he knows Barca don’t have the money to sign him.
