Pep Guardiola has £35m Sergio Aguero replacement ‘on his shortlist’ after 25-goal season

Pep Guardiola is preparing for the eventual departure of Sergio Aguero this summer and The Times says Andre Silva is ‘on his shortlist’. The 25-year-old is coming off the back of a prolific campaign at Eintracht Frankfurt and wouldn’t break the bank with a £35m asking price, so he might be the one for Manchester City.

Silva’s professional career started at FC Porto and saw him score 24 goals with 11 assists in 58 games. He joined Milan in 2017 and went on to make 41 appearances in all competitions, scoring 10 goals with two assists.

The Portuguese international had one disappointing season at the San Siro and was loaned out to Sevilla (August 2018 – June 2019) and Frankfurt (September 2019 – September 2020) before turning his move permanent with the latter.

Silva has scored 42 goals and made 15 assists in 69 appearances across the board for Frankfurt and is a regular under Adi Hütter, but his future at the Waldstadion is uncertain.

Frankfurt could miss out on a Champions League spot for next season, so Silva might be lured away by a side that will be in Europe. City could win the competition too, so they’ll be an attractive proposition.
