Pep Guardiola should drop Man City man v Wolves after woeful midweek showing [Opinion]

Manchester City are hoping to end their winless streak on the road with victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, but Pep Guardiola may have to make changes from Wednesday’s 2-1 win over Borussia Dortmund.

The Sky Blues have drawn their last two away games in the Premier League and can’t afford to carry passengers, so Jack Grealish could be dropped after underperforming in the Champions League.

The 27-year-old was rewarded for impressing in the 4-0 win over Sevilla with a start against Dortmund, but he underwhelmed and was substituted less than an hour into the game – Grealish failed to register a shot on target, whip in an accurate cross or make a successful dribble.

The England international has made five appearances in all competitions this season, failing to score or make an assist, so Guardiola will eventually lose faith in him if he doesn’t improve. It’s hard to make the case for him to start after Wednesday’s performance, so Grealish would be fortunate to stay in the team.
