Manchester City enjoyed a 2-1 win over Borussia Dortmund in Wednesday’s Champions League group game, but Pep Guardiola won’t be happy with the performance of some of his players.
Jack Grealish was ineffectual at the Etihad Stadium and was hooked before the hour mark as a result. The 27-year-old was rewarded with a start for his brighter performance in City’s 4-0 win over Sevilla, but he didn’t vindicate Guardiola’s faith this time.

Grealish was given a 4.81 player rating in BBC Sport’s post-match report – the lowest score out of every City player after failing to register a shot on target, failing to register an accurate cross and failing to make a successful dribble.
The England international was given a player rating of 3/10 by Daniel Murphy of the Manchester Evening News who claimed he was ‘sloppy’ and ‘wasteful’ on the ball, being dispossessed more times (2) than all but one City player on the night.
Toby Cudworth of 90min gave Grealish a player rating of 3/10 and said he kept running into trouble when cutting inside with the ball. After City conceded against Dortmund and needed a goal, Guardiola took off his £100m playmaker.
That’s damning. It’s also five games without a goal or assist this season too.
