Report: Club closing in on £7.2m deal and £13k p/w wages for Man City defender

Sporting are keen to sign Pedro Perro on a permanent deal from Manchester City but were struggling to match the buying option due to a reported lack of transfer funds. This led to Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid trying to capitalise on the situation, but A Bola (h/t Sport Witness) say Sporting are closing in on a deal for the 22-year-old.

The Primeira Liga outfit will pay City €8.5m (£7.2m) and have agreed personal terms of €800k-a-year/€15.4k-per-week (£680k-a-year/£13k-per-week). A Bola add that Porro will sign a four-year deal with a €45m release clause from June. The 22-year-old has made 55 appearances in all competitions for Sporting, scoring seven goals with four assists.

Porro joined Man City from Girona in 2019 but has yet to make an appearance as he was immediately loaned out to Real Valladolid (August 2019 – July 2020) and then Sporting (August 2020 – present). Kyle Walker and Joao Cancelo are ahead of Porro in the pecking order too, so there isn’t a place for him at the Etihad Stadium.

The Spanish international has impressed in Portugal, however, so his career is still on the up given how many years he has of playing.

In other news, Man City may have to pay £95.5m for 6ft 2in man with more goals than Bernardo Silva
