Report: Defender has uncertain Man City future amid interest from La Liga giants

|

Pedro Porro is expected to leave Manchester City at the end of the season, but the destination is unknown. The 22-year-old is currently on loan at Sporting and has the option to join the Primeira Liga outfit permanently in the coming months, but Sporting don’t have €8.5m (£7.3m) required to sign him.

O Jogo (h/t Sport Witness) say Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid are looking to capitalise on the situation, though it doesn’t state whether they’d sign him from Sporting or City – Porro could still join the Portuguese club this summer and then move to Spain.

There is also the option of Porro staying at City and then being sold to Atleti or Real for much more than Sporting were going to pay. Although the Leões are struggling to raise funds to trigger the buying option, they could make a profit on his sale by cashing in on the interest.

Porro joined City from Girona in 2019 and has yet to make an appearance. He’s been loaned out to Real Valladolid (August 2019 – July 2020) and Sporting (August 2020 – present) as Kyle Walker and Joao Cancelo are ahead in the pecking order at City, so a move away this summer would suit all parties.

Where he’ll go is up in the air though.
