Report: Uncertainty over Man City’s interest in £76.9m man with 123 goals at age 21

Manchester City are expected to sign a new striker after losing Sergio Aguero over the summer, but it’s up in the air who they’ll make a move for and when.

The Premier League defending champions tried and failed to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur and were linked with Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe and Romelu Lukaku months ago, but Sport (h/t SportsMole) say the former may no longer be a target.

Haaland has been on City’s radar for the longest time as he boasts 123 goals and 33 assists from 150 games at three different clubs (Molde FK, Red Bull Salzburg, Borussia Dortmund).

The 21-year-old has a €75m (£64m) release clause that comes into effect in the summer 2022, but Dortmund are trying to bring that up to €90m (£76.7m) to reflect his value.

Haaland is represented by Mino Raiola, however, which Sport say may put City off from making a move because of exortionate agent fees being requested in the deal.

Pep Guardiola wants a prolific striker that can replace Aguero and Haaland’s record suggests he’d be up to the challenge, but it remains to be seen how hard City go in for him in 2022.
