Report: Man City ‘almost convinced’ 21 y/o to join, PL club in ‘final sprint’ with Barcelona

Manchester City have made it their priority to sign Erling Haaland this summer, but the Premier League leaders will have competition from Barcelona.

Haaland is expected to leave Borussia Dortmund as his €75m (£62.7m) release clause will be active at the end of the season, not to mention him bagging 23 goals in 25 games this campaign too.

The 21-year-old has caught the eye of Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, but Mundo Deportivo (h/t Sport Witness) believe Man City and Barcelona are in the ‘final sprint’.

Their report states City had ‘almost convinced’ Haaland to join too, so Pep Guardiola’s men should be favourites to land his signature. The only stumbling block are his lofty wage demands and Mino Raiola’s astronomical agent fees.

Haaland is currently earning £132k-per-week/£6.9m-a-year at Dortmund but is requesting £500k-per-week/£26m-a-year to leave. Raiola and Erling’s father Alf Inge are set to land a lot of money from his transfer too – £47m agent fees were previously cited.

It will set City back a lot of money to bring Haaland to Manchester, but he’s one of the most prolific strikers in Europe and is still only a kid, so he may be worth the outlay.
