Report: Man City ‘on list of suitors’ for £51m-rated 22 y/o who scored 17 goals last season

Manchester City have turned away from Harry Kane and appear to be targeting younger replacements for Sergio Aguero if latest reports are anything to go by. The Premier League defending champions are set to hold talks with Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland in January and Fichajes say they’re also ‘on a list of suitors’ for Real Sociedad’s Alexander Isak.

The 22-year-old joined La Real from Dortmund in 2019 and has gone on to make 95 appearances in all competitions, scoring 34 goals with five assists. Isak, who’s scored nine goals in 30 games for Sweden, is coming off the back of his most prolific domestic campaign (17 goals in 34 La Liga games) which is garnered him the attention of a lot of clubs.

Fichajes say Real Madrid and Barcelona could challenge City for the 22-year-old. Isak is valued at around €60m (£51m), so no club will be breaking the bank, but Haaland might be better value given his superior scoring record – 117 career goals at the age of 21. Time will tell if City’s alleged interest in Isak leads to an official move when the transfer window opens.
