Manchester City are still on the hunt for a left-back as Benjamin Mendy is in custody following a criminal charge and Oleksandr Zinchenko hasn’t held down a starting place this season.
Pep Guardiola’s side were linked with Nicolas Tagliafico, Robin Gosens, Alex Sandro, Nuno Mendes, David Alaba and Gabriel Gudmundsson over the summer, but one player they’re still interested in is Theo Hernandez.
The Premier League defending champions wanted the 24-year-old ahead of the 2021/22 season but missed out as Milan were close to agreeing a new deal. Calciomercato say Hernandez hasn’t put pen to paper on an extension, however, so his future at the San Siro is still up in the air.
The French international has three years remaining on his current deal but has been in talks with Milan for months over a long-term contract. Calciomercato say the Rossoneri are worried about Man City’s and Paris Saint-Germain’s ‘pressure’ but are confident Hernandez will commit his future.
Hernandez joined Milan from Real Madrid in 2019 and has gone on to make 91 appearances in all competitions, scoring 16 goals with 16 assists. He’d certainly improve City’s backline, but it remains to be seen if he’ll make the switch.
