Manchester City beat Liverpool 4-1 on Sunday afternoon and Phil Foden was named Man of the Match for his performance at Anfield. The 20-year-old assisted one goal and scored another, producing a second-half display that Pep Guardiola will be delighted with.
No Man City player won more fouls, registered more shots on target, made more interceptions and won more aerial duels on the day than Foden. His creative threat was what earned him the plaudits, however, from many on social media.

Against Liverpool, Foden played for 90 minutes, had 50 touches, won two aerial duels, competed 71.4% of his 28 passes, created one chance, had two shots with 100% hitting the target, whipped in one cross, made two tackles, won four freekicks, had two successful dribbles and made three interceptions.
He assisted City’s second goal by dribbling past two players and squaring the ball for Ilkay Gundogan to score. Foden then bagged the fourth by cutting inside from the right and firing an effort past Alisson.
The 5ft 6in England international has made 28 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring 10 goals with six assists. Foden has had a hand in five goals from his last seven Premier League outings and is now a regular in the starting lineup. He’s having a fantastic campaign and looks a shoo-in to make the England squad for this summer’s European Championship.
