Meanwhile, Hart’s return sent him back to the bench, meaning he was loaned out to Cardiff City and Coventry during the remainder of the year. He has been rumoured to desire a move away from Eastlands, and this latest addition means it pushes him further down the pecking order. Surely, he must be sent him away from City in search of first team action.
At 22, he is no longer eligible for the Danish U21 team, for which he made 17 appearances, and should he wish to figure into the senior national team’s squad, he must move.
Hart is just 21, but surely with the taste of first team football, this must have whet his appetite, and no doubt he will be frustrated with Given’s arrival.
Given has a four and a half year deal, and there is no doubt he is still in his prime, therefore Mark Hughes will likely drop Hart to the subs bench, giving City perhaps the best goalkeeping depth in England.
