Following Man City’s victorious first game back since the recent global pandemic, these Sky Blues supporters have held nothing but praise for left-back Benjamin Mendy following an ‘unreal‘ display – taking to Twitter and waxing lyrical over the Frenchman.
Pep Guardiola’s side disposed of visitors Arsenal in comfortable fashion, beating the Gunners 3-0 courtesy of strikes from Raheem Sterling, Kevin De Bruyne and youngster Phil Foden.
Following a dominant first half, City finally took the lead when a ball-in-behind deflected off defender David Luiz into Sterling’s path, with the Englishman then going on to rifle a shot past Bernd Leno at the near post.
Is this the start of Mendy's resurgence?
Yes, terrific game on Wednesday
No, he will pick up another knock
Luiz, early in the second period, brought down winger Riyad Mahrez for a penalty and was shown a straight red card – putting an end to his brief but torrid afternoon as playmaker De Bruyne coolly dispatched the following spot-kick.
Foden added a third in stoppage time, smashing a rebounded effort into the roof of the net – but despite some noteworthy performances, left-back Mendy has been at the centre of some worthy praise on social media.
As per SofaScore, Mendy won all of his aerial duels and completed 93% of his passes down the left-hand side – with Sky Blues giving him deserved applause.

Mendy. No absolutely incredible stand out performances but Mendy looked solid the whole night. Best he’s looked since that run in early 18/19

If he’s healthy, i still think he’s our go to guy. Unless a miracle Sane for Davies swap happens
