According to an update from Sports Journalist Pol Ballus, Man City are set to announce Juanma Lillo as Pep Guardiola’s assistant manager in the ‘coming days’ – leading to plenty of Sky Blue reactions online.
Lillo spearheaded Qingdao Huanghai’s Chinese Super League promotion in his most recent post and now looks likely to sign with City until 2021 – replacing Mikel Arteta as Guardiola’s understudy at the Etihad Stadium.
The 54-year-old has been labelled as a real inspiration to Guardiola having previously worked with our boss at Mexican side Dorados de Sinaloa during the 2005/2006 season.
Will Lillo become a better assistant manager than Arteta?
Yes, he is Pep's mentor
No, there's nobody better than Pep and Arteta
Journalist Ballus has stated on social media that we look set to appoint Lillo imminently and just in time for our FA Cup and Champions League charges.
Now, with the duo reportedly reuniting at Eastlands, plenty of City fans have flocked to have their say over the alleged appointment – find all of their best comments from Twitter down below.
Lillo and Pep could work a treat together. Could be an appointment that’s extended if Pep renews his deal past 2021 too. Be interesting to see how two footballing philosophers combine to make it work. https://t.co/uDDG0Ljlrq
