‘Baller’ – Some fans claim ‘amazing’ Man City man ‘is the most underrated’ in the PL

Manchester City beat Fulham 3-0 at Craven Cottage on Saturday evening and Bernardo Silva was one of many players who impressed. The 26-year-old didn’t contribute a goal on the night, but he covered every blade of grass and was always willing to get on the ball to control the midfield.

Silva harried his opposition when he wasn’t in possession and vindicated Pep Guardiola’s decision to start him over Phil Foden and Raheem Sterling with such tireless work at both ends.

Against Fulham, Silva played for 66 minutes, had 51 touches, completed 81.6% of his 38 passes, created one chance, had one shot which hit the target, made two tackles, had one successful dribble and won one freekick (WhoScored).

The 26-year-old has made 33 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring five goals and supplying five assists (Transfermarkt). Silva has been a regular under Pep Guardiola due to his ball retention and high levels of industry, so he certainly deserves the plaudits.

Whether the Portuguese international will keep his place against Borussia Monchengladbach remains to be seen, however, as Guardiola has been rotating his squad to ensure players don’t get fatigued.
