Manchester City enjoyed a 3-0 win over Fulham on Saturday and John Stones was one of many players who impressed at Craven Cottage. The 26-year-old opened the scoring on the night and went on to pick up his 19th clean sheet of the season (Transfermarkt).
Only one player had more interceptions, only two players made more tackles and only one player had more successful long balls against Fulham than Stones, so the England international was more than deserving of the plaudits from supporters on social media.

John Stones has been a revelation this season. Getting dropped has made him really kick on and easily become England’s first choice centre back for the Euros @BBCMOTD

John Stones is England’s best defender by a mile.
Splendid decision maker.
Used to struggle to decide when to pass out from the back or just lump it long.
My favourite part of his performance today was the 92nd minute hoof into the stands.— Nubaid Haroon (@RamboFYI) March 13, 2021

Game over, great to see Sergio back, fairplay to Fulham they gave it a good go but we were too good in the end. Cancelo excellent again, Stones has been different class again, happy days, on we go. #MCFC

John Stones the best tonight. Arguably the best #mcfc defender this year https://t.co/vdzPXmXK92

In Pep we trust! 😍. Brilliant 2nd half. Bernardo my MOTM, Stones a close second. Fantastic team performance, great to see Aguero on the score sheet and Jesus rounding a keeper to score a 1 on 1. Lots of doubters before KO and at HT, but this has been a great overall performance.

Against Fulham, Stones played for 90 minutes, had 73 touches, completed 78.1% of his 64 passes, had one shot which hit the back of the net, completed 4/9 long balls, made two tackles, gave away one foul, made one interception, had one successful dribble and made one interception (WhoScored).
The 26-year-old has made 18 Premier League appearances this season, giving away one foul every 324 minutes while being dribbled past only once every 324 minutes too (WhoScored). Stones has won 16/18 league games, conceded six goals and has helped to keep 13 clean sheets, so it’s clear he’s been solid for City.
