According to a report from RMC Sport journalist Mohamed Bouhafsi, Pep Guardiola has personally contacted AC Milan midfielder Ismael Bennacer over a move to the Etihad Stadium – prompting some City fans to give their opinions on ‘the real deal‘.
Bennacer, who has started 18 Serie A matches for the Italian giants this season, finding 86.4% of his passes from midfield, is reportedly seen as a prime target for Guardiola as City attempt to plug gaping holes in front of the back four.
Should City sign Bennacer?
No, don't need a defensive midfielder
The Algerian international, registering more tackles on average this campaign than any Sky Blues player according to WhoScored, has also picked up an astounding 12 yellow cards over 20 league appearances in total – summarising the positives and negatives of a potential swoop.
Despite concerns regarding his disciplinary record, only star defender Aymeric Laporte has made more interceptions than the 22-year-old over 2019/2020 – with City supporters flocking to discuss our links to Bennacer.

Big fan of this lad but address the problem areas first. Sort out LB, CB and LW. Then look at long term replacements (Aguero, Dinho)

Sorry, no disrespect to him or his obvious ability, but If he’s already wanting up front guarantees about playing time already, sorry but no good to us. Wrong initial attitude 🙏💪💪✌
