‘He’s dangerous’ – Man City player hailed by teammate for ‘perfect’ passing

|

Kevin De Bruyne made an assist in Manchester City’s 4-0 win over Sevilla on Tuesday evening and was praised by Manuel Akanji for his ‘perfect’ passing. The 31-year-old created four chances before being substituted in the second half, so his radar was certainly working at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium.

Akanji, who made his full debut in the Sevilla win, showered his teammate in praise. He told City TV: “I remember the first training (session) where he played the perfect pass (but) I wasn’t expecting (it). You have to be careful with him because out of nowhere he can make something. That makes him so dangerous.”

De Bruyne has made six Premier League appearances this season, scoring one goals with four assists. He’s created 21 chances and whipped in 46 crosses while completing 80.1% of his passes, so Pep Guardiola couldn’t wish for a better playmaker.

His decision-making on the ball is second to none. The Belgian international is seldom caught in possession (dispossessed once every 117 minutes) and seldom struggles to find a teammate with his distribution (239/282 accurate short passes).

Akanji is right to praise De Bruyne as its resulted in Erling Haaland thriving since joining from Borussia Dortmund – 12 goals scored from eight games in all competitions. City have scored 20 goals in six league games and the 31-year-old’s brilliant creativity has heavily contributed.
